This writ petition is filed with the following prayers: "A. Issue a Writ, Order or direction in the nature of Mandamus to the Respondent to consider the case of the Petitioner for premature release under the policy dated 16.7.04;
B. Issue a Writ, Order or direction in the nature of Mandamus to the State Government and direct the release of the Petitioner under the policy of premature release dated 16.7.04 forthwith;
C. that the furlough granted to the petitioner by the Jail Authority on 9.1.24 which expires on 31.1.24 may be extended till further orders by this Hon'ble Court"

Learned ASC accepts notice on behalf of State and at the outset, on instructions, hands over a copy of order dated 19.01.2024 whereby in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 432 Cr.P.C. read with Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs, New Delhi Notification No.U-11011/2/74-UTL(i) dated 20.03.1974, the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor of National Capital Territory of Delhi has remitted the unexpired portion of sentence of 14 life convicts on the recommendations of the Sentence Reviewing Board in its meeting held on 21.12.2023 and points out the Petitioner's name at serial no.13.

Copy of the order has been handed over to the learned counsel for the Petitioner, who submits that in view of order dated 19.01.2024, he does not press the present Petition.
