The instant petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration & Conciliation Act, 1996 has been filed by the Petitioner seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal.

Material on record indicates that the Arbitral Tribunal was constituted to adjudicate upon the disputes between the parties. It is stated that since the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal is going to expire on 04.02.2025, the Petitioner has approached this Court seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal for making the Award.

A perusal of the list of dates indicates that on 05.08.2023 pleadings in the arbitration proceedings have been completed and the evidence is yet to be recorded in the arbitration proceedings.

was extended on 04.08.2024 wherein the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal was mutually extended by the parties in terms of Section 29A(3) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 for a period of six months i.e. till 04.02.2025.

In the facts and circumstance of this case, this Court is inclined to extend the mandate of the Arbitral Tribunal till 31.12.2025 so that the arbitral proceedings be completed and Award can be pronounced. 6.

The petition is disposed of along with the pending applications, if any.
