Heard the petitioner who appears in person and Mr. Jivesh Tiwari, learned counsel representing the Delhi Police. 2.

The instant petition filed as a public interest litigation petition raises concern about various acts of omission and lapses on the part of the investigating officers investigating the road accidents. It has been averred in the petition that it has been noticed that the investigating officers are not timely filing the First Accident Report (FAR), Interim Accident Report (IAR) and Detailed Accident Report (DAR), neither do they furnish copies of such reports to the concerned Motor Accident Claim Tribunal, to the Insurance Companies, victims and even to the Delhi State Legal Services Authority. It has also been averred by the petitioner that such information is also not uploaded on the website of the Delhi Police. Since the scheme relating to reporting of motor accidents is being implemented by the Delhi Police, we dispose of this writ petition with a direction to the Commissioner of Police to look into the grievances raised in this petition and take appropriate decision and steps, which may be warranted under law to ensure that monitoring mechanism for motor accident cases is appropriately implemented. Thus, the Commissioner of Police shall, accordingly, take all legally mandated actions in respect of the concerns raised in this petition, with expedition. 4.

Learned counsel for the Delhi Police, Mr. Jivesh Tiwari is required to send the complete copy of the writ petition to the Commissioner of Police forthwith, who shall accordingly act as directed by this Court. 5.

The writ petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid directions.
