The limited grievance raised by the petitioner in the present writ petition is that the Rehabilitation Council of India ('RCI') has neither taken any action nor decided the representation dated 27.03.2024 of the petitioner. 4.

Vide the said representation, the RCI was requested to take action and initiate proceedings under Section 13(3) of the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) Act, 1992, against unqualified and unprofessional persons practising illegally as Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists. It was also requested to implement a uniform nomenclature amongst the rehabilitation professionals throughout India. 5.

It is incumbent upon the RCI to take appropriate measures with regard to the aforesaid. considerable prejudice for those requiring the services of audiologists and speech language pathologists.

After some hearing, with the consent of the learned counsel who appears for the RCI, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to the the RCI to decide the representation dated 27.03.2024, and take suitable measures to address the issues raised by the petitioner. 7.

Let an opportunity of hearing be granted by the RCI to the representative/s of the petitioner within a period of three weeks from today, and the representation of the petitioner be disposed of by passing a reasoned order,also setting out the steps taken, if any, in terms of the request made in the said representation.
