W.P. (Crl.) 94/2017 Petitioner no. 1 and respondent no. 2 have settled their disputes amicably. Petitioner nos. 2 and 3 are relatives of petitioner no.1. Respondent no. 2, who is present in Court and has been identified by the Investigating Officer, submits that she has settled the matter with the petitioners of her own free will and without any undue force, pressure or

coercion. She further submits that she has already received `4 lacs out of the total settled amount. Remaining settled amount of `1.50 lacs has been paid by the petitioner no.1 to the respondent no.2 in Court by way of two demand drafts, photocopy whereof has been placed on record. Marriage between petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 has already been dissolved by the Family Court, South East District by a decree of divorce by mutual consent dated 1st December, 2016. Respondent no.2 has no objection in case the FIR is quashed.

Keeping in mind that matter has been settled between the petitioners and respondent no.2, inasmuch as, marriage between the petitioner no.1 and respondent no.2 has been dissolved, no fruitful purpose would be served in keeping the present criminal proceedings pending. Accordingly, FIR No.

650/2015 under Sections 498-A/406/34 IPC registered at police station Kotla Mubarakpur and the consequent proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.

Writ petition is disposed of in the above terms. A.K. PATHAK, J.
