Heard the learned Counsel for the Parties.

This Public Interest Litigation Petition has been filed seeking a direction to demolish certain alleged illegal and unauthorized construction in Block B-3, Nand Nagri, DDA Market, Delhi.

On instructions, it has been informed by the learned Counsel representing Municipal Corporation of Delhi ("MCD") that twenty three individuals were found to have raised certain illegal / unauthorized constructions in respect of thirty nine shops situated in Block B-3, Nand Nagri, DDA Market, Delhi and, accordingly, proceedings under the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957 were initiated which resulted in passing of the demolition order in some of the cases. In some of the cases, the demolition order has been challenged before the appellate authority, MCD and appeals are pending whereas in some of the cases, the Appeals have been decided and the matters have been remitted back to the competent authority of the MCD.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, we dispose of this Writ Petition with a direction to the competent authority of the MCD as also the learned Appellate Tribunal, MCD to expedite the proceedings, which may be pending as on today before them and conclude the same as expeditiously as possible.

We further direct that depending on the outcome of the proceedings as aforesaid, an appropriate action which may be warranted under the law shall be undertaken by the MCD and the concerned authorities, with expedition. 6.
Pending Applications also stand disposed of.
