The petitioners have filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that directions be issued to the respondents to issue a typed certificate of marriage dated 28.12.2018.

The marriage of the petitioners was solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. However, a certificate to this effect has not been issued since, the software available with the respondents for registering the marriage and issuance of certificate does not accept a marriage between two Foreign Citizens.

The learned counsel appearing for the respondents states that there is no dispute that a marriage between two Foreign Citizens can be registered under the Special Marriage Act, 1954. He states that since, the software is not accepting the data regarding the marriage of two Foreign Citizens, the matter has been escalated to higher authorities to find an appropriate solution.

He requests that the present petition be deferred till Monday for him to obtain an appropriate instructions.
