O R D E R

% 09.03.2026 1.

This is a writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking the following prayers:- "A. Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction directing the Respondent to expedient the application of the Petitioner and forthwith convert the Petitioner's leasehold residential property bearing Plot no. 294, Pocket-3, Sector 22, Rohini, Delhi, admeasuring 48 square meters, falling under Rohini Zone, Delhi into freehold in accordance with law;

B. Pass an order thereby directing the Respondent for the payment of interest / compensation for the inordinate delay and harassment caused to the Petitioner; and..." 2.

Ms. Grover, learned counsel for the petitioner, states that the petitioner has filed an application for conversion of the subject property i.e., property bearing Plot no. 294, Pocket-3, Sector 22, The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. Rohini, Delhi, from leasehold to freehold way back on 20.11.2025 and the same has not been processed till date. 3.

For the said reasons, issue notice.

Ms. Sen, learned standing counsel accepts notice on behalf of the respondent.

I am of the view that the petitioner's application should be processed by the respondent immediately and if there are any shortcomings, the same should be communicated to the petitioner in order to enable the petitioner to rectify the same.

For the said reasons, the present petition is allowed. It is directed that the application dated 20.11.2025 filed by the petitioner, shall be processed by the respondent within 4 weeks from today and if there are any shortcomings/ additional documents, the same shall be communicated to the petitioner, which the petitioner will make good within 2 weeks thereafter.

In case the petitioner is aggrieved by the decision of the respondent, the petitioner is at liberty to file a fresh petition in accordance with law.

With these directions, the petition is disposed of along with pending applications, if any.
