This is a petition filed by the Petitioner-Devyani International Ltd. under Section 29A(4) and (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter, '1996 Act') seeking extension of the mandate of the Arbitrator. 3.

As per the petition, the parties entered into a concession agreement dated 4th October, 2018, to manage food & beverage outlets at the Srinagar International Airport. After disputes arose between the parties, the ld. Sole Arbitrator was appointed on 16th July, 2022. Pleadings in the arbitration proceedings were stated to have been completed on 14th October, 2022. Thereafter, on 14th August, 2023, time for rendering the award under Section 29A(3) of the 1996 Act was extended till 28th February, 2024. Since the mandate of the ld. Today, it is submitted by ld. Counsel for the parties that the matter is at the stage of final arguments and the claimant's submissions have already been heard. In this view of the matter, the mandate of the ld. Sole Arbitrator is extended by six months.
