Status Report has been handed over in Court today. The same is taken on record.

By the present petition, the petitioner challenges the Punishment Ticket which was issued way back on 31.07.2018. The petitioner was found guilty of using abusive language and quarrelling with other fellow inmates, thereby committing offence under Section 46 (2, 4 & 5) of the Delhi Prisons Act, 2000.

The petitioner was punished for the offence and hence, mulakat (meeting) was stopped for seven days. 4.

The punishment was also stated to have been approved by the Jail Visiting Magistrate.

verified at this stage after seven years of the punishment being awarded.

It is pointed out that such old records are not maintained. 7.

Undisputedly, the present petition has been filed with an inordinate delay and at this stage, there exists no means to verify the contentions of the petitioner and therefore, no order can be passed in the present petition.

In regard to the apprehension of the petitioner that the punishment may come in way of the petitioner seeking other reliefs, the petitioner is at liberty to file an appropriate petition at a subsequent stage in case the said punishment is made a ground by the respondent authorities for denying any relief that the petitioner is otherwise entitled to.
