% 20.09.2019 The learned Predecessor Bench vide order dated February 5, 2019 had expressed grave concern about the fact that despite furnishing incorrect/incomplete address, which remained unverified, SIM cards/Mobile numbers were being issued.

Subsequently, the Court was informed that a Division Bench of the Patna High Court had passed a judgment dated 22.05.2015 issuing directions to the Ministry of Telecommunication to supplement the instructions forming a part of the guidelines dated 14.03.2011 and 09.08.2012 to ensure that the service providers confirm the genuineness of the identity and

address proof appended with the CAF. The Court was also informed that aggrieved by the aforesaid directions, the Union of India had filed a Special Leave petition and the Apex Court had stayed the directions issued by the Patna High Court.

The Union of India has now filed an affidavit in which it is stated that out of the 69 complaints which had been received, 3 FIRs have been registered by the Delhi Police.

Since the matter is already subjudice in the Hon'ble Supreme Court, this Court is of the view that no further orders are called for. Accordingly, the present petition is closed.
