W.P.(CRL) 358/2019 The petitioner seeks protection against extortion from anti-social elements. The petitioner has named three persons as being the anti-social elements, however, he has not impleaded them as parties. Issue notice.

Mr. Rajesh Mahajan, the learned Additional Standing Counsel accepts notice. He refers to a Status Report dated 04.02.2019. He submits that

there are rival groups which are trying to establish their hegemony in the plying of e-Rickshaws near the Shastri Park Metro Station. He further submits that the Police has initiated proceedings under Section 107/150 of Cr.P.C. All persons concerned have been duly cautioned by the police and the police is conscious of its duty to maintain peace and law and order in the area.

However, for the safety of the petitioner, telephone numbers of three police officers from the jurisdiction of the Police Station concerned shall be provided to him. These numbers shall be kept operational at all times so that an exigency could be intimated by the petitioner on any of the numbers. Any message received on the said numbers or on any other telephone number of the police either by way of a telephone call or SMS or WhatsApp shall be immediately responded to.
