The petitioner seeks an extension of parole granted to him by the competent authority. The petitioner has been convicted for offences punishable under Sections 302/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, and has undergone approximately years of imprisonment without remission.

On 22.12.2025, the petitioner applied for parole for a period of eight weeks to complete the construction of his house. He filed W.P. with a direction to the competent authority to decide his request within a period of four weeks. Pursuant to the said order, the petitioner was released on 18.02.2026 and directed to surrender on 19.03.2026. 5.

Ms. Ishita Singh, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner has commenced construction but requires a further period of two weeks to complete the same. She submits that the petitioner undertakes to surrender on or before 02.04.2026. 6.

Mr. Sanjeev Bhandari, learned Additional Standing Counsel for the State, submits that in the event the period of parole is extended, the petitioner's subsequent application for parole may require appropriate curtailment. Ms. Singh disputes this submission; the said issue may be considered by the competent authority at the appropriate stage, if and when such application is made.

For the present, the period of parole granted to the petitioner is extended until 02.04.2026, subject to the petitioner filing an affidavit within two days, undertaking that he shall surrender on or before the said date.

The petition accordingly stands disposed of.
