This is a petition filed under Section 29(A)(4) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of time for completion of the arbitration proceedings and passing of the award. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the Arbitrator had entered reference upon its appointment by this Court on 21.07.2017. He submits that despite this Court extending the time frame of arbitration on three earlier occasions and the expiry of the Arbitrator's mandate on 21.01.2020, the arbitration is still ongoing. He further submits that due to voluminous pleadings in the matter as

also the Arbitrator's decision to allow the claimant's application for additional evidence on 09.09.2019, the award could not be passed within the stipulated period. He, therefore, prays that the period for rendering the award be suitably extended by at least six months. 3.

Issue notice. Learned counsel for the respondent accepts notice and fairly does not oppose the petition.

Accordingly, with the consent of the parties, the time for conclusion of the arbitration proceedings and passing of the award is extended for a further period of six months commencing from 21.01.2020.
