In view of the directions passed by this Court, the Status Report came to be filed by the respondent-MCD, which reads as under :- "Hon'ble High Court vide his order dated 01.04.2024 has directed to file a Status Report in the subject matter. Next date of hearing is 18.07.2024. In this regard, the Status Report is as under:
1. The locality where complainant is residing, is a water deficit area. There is not enough availability of water in Janta Park UGR. Generally, deficit of water is made up by supplying water through tube wells and water tankers.
2. Sufficient tube well water is supplied to the complainant daily from 09:00 AM to 05:00 PM, which can be used for non-potable purposes.
3. Further, potable water was being supplied to the complainant through water tanker. The water tanker of 3 KL capacity was made available from 08.05.2024 onwards (photograph attached). The tanker was again sent on 09.05.2024, but the tanker was sent back by the complainant. Again, the tanker was denied on 10.05.2024.
4. The said location has been designated as a fixed point for supplying water through water tanker twice a week i.e. every Wednesday and Saturday in the afternoon.

Project (DWSIP) for equitable and 24x7 distribution of water in the area. The area of the complainant lies in the command area of Janta Park Under Ground Reservoir (part of above-mentioned scheme). The work is in progress and stipulated date of completion of work is 28.02.2026. The scheme will facilitate 24x7 water supply by avoiding leakages/wastages and theft of water. The works for overall improvement in the area shall take about 1.5-2.0 years of time." 2.
In view of the aforesaid, it appears that the respondent-Delhi Jal Board has taken adequate steps and on account of scarcity of water in the area in question, the situation had arisen.

The respondent-DJB is taking necessary steps to ensure that the water supply becomes smooth and uninterrupted. Taking into consideration the aforesaid aspects, the Court, at this stage, is not inclined to keep the instant writ petition pending. Accordingly, the instant petition is disposed of. 4.
The petitioner is at liberty to re-agitate the issue before the competent authority or to take necessary steps, in case he feels that the respondent-DJB is not taking further necessary steps within reasonable period of time.
