The petitioner University has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that directions be issued to its students restraining them from congregating, protesting, agitating or, in any manner, demonstrating within a radius of 100 meters from the Administrative Complex starting from Gate No. 13, Ansari Auditorium, road passing next to Nehru Guest House, Mass Communication Building and Tagore Lecture Hall Complex and open lawn in front of main administrative building till gate No. 15.

The petitioner is desirous that orders be issued by this Court to contain the students' agitation in an area as earmarked for them. It is seen
that the Chief Proctor of the University has been arrayed as respondent No.2. Clearly, respondent no.2 is a part of the petitioner university, and there is no allegation in the petition that respondent no.2 is not performing his functions or is not taking necessary disciplinary steps against the students. Concededly, there is no dispute between the petitioner and respondent no.2.

In view of the above, this Court is not persuaded to issue any directions to respondent no.2. However, if respondent no.2 is unable to maintain the required discipline and the agitation presents a serious law and order problem, it would obviously be open for him or the petitioner university authorities to seek assistance of the local police authorities. 4.
In view of the above, the present petition is disposed of by directing respondent no.1 to render any assistance that may be required by the petitioner and respondent no.2 for maintaining law and order, if so called upon by the concerned authorities.
