O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 47/2020 3.
This is a petition filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of time for completion of arbitration proceedings and rendering of the award. 4.
Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the learned Arbitrator was appointed pursuant to an order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court on 12.04.2017. Despite the parties diligently participating in the arbitration proceedings, the same have yet not concluded and in the meanwhile, the mandate of the Arbitrator has expired on 31.01.2020; He, therefore, prays that the time for
completion of proceedings and rendering of the award be extended for a further period of three months effective from 31.01.2020. 5.
Issue notice. Learned counsel for the respondent, who appears on advance notice, does not oppose the said prayer. 6.
Keeping in view the fact that much time and labour has already been invested in the proceedings, the time for completion of arbitration proceedings and rendering of award is extended by three months effective from 31.01.2020. The mandate of the learned Arbitrator is thus extended till 30.04.2020.
7.
The petition is disposed of in the aforesaid terms. REKHA PALLI, J.
