The matter has been placed before this Bench on an urgent mentioning as the roster Bench is not available. 2.

The petition was taken up at 5.35 PM, when appearance was entered by Mr. Chaitanya Gosain, learned counsel for the respondent No.1/Delhi Police, who was directed to produce, Ms. Alisha Bano. It is 8.02 PM. Ms.Alisha Bano is present in court along with her mother, Ms.Naseema Begum.

The present petition has been filed by the petitioner praying inter alia for issuance of a writ of habeas corpus to the respondent No.1/Delhi Police for production of Ms.Alisha Bano, who is allegedly in the illegal custody of her father, Mr.Saleem Khan.

This Court has interacted at some length with the petitioner and Alisha Bano separately and thereafter, had a joint meeting with both the parties. Alisha Bano had categorically stated that she is not under any pressure from her parents or family members and her marriage is being solemnized on 09.2.2020, of her own free will and volition. She is 21 years old, and has stated in clear terms that she is not interested in accompanying the petitioner and nor does she have anything to do with him or his family members.

In view of the submission made by Ms. Alisha Bano, as recorded above, we do not propose to take the matter further. 6.

At this stage, learned counsel for the petitioner states that his client is fearful of his life and apprehends that the respondent No.2 and his family members may take precipitative steps against him and his family members. The SHO of the area is directed to ensure that adequate security is extended to the petitioner and his family members for a period of four weeks or beyond that, if necessary. The mobile number of the Beat Constables of the area shall be provided to the petitioner immediately. The Beat Constables shall visit the residence of the petitioner as part of their beat duty during this period.

The present petition is disposed of.
