This is an application under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 on behalf of the petitioner for grant of anticipatory bail.

Status report has been filed.

Learned APP for the State, on the query of the Court, submitted that only a one-line allegation against the petitioner in the complaint is made that the father-in-law and the mother-in-law have demanded from the complainant Rs.20 lacs for getting a house constructed. Neither the date of the said demand is mentioned nor any other allegation is made against the petitioner. The cousin of the husband of the complainant and the sister-in-law of the complainant have already been granted anticipatory bail, copy of the order has already been placed on record.

Taking into consideration the contents of the status report as well as the complaint and the role of the petitioner, I deem it proper that in case of arrest of the petitioner, she be released on bail subject to her furnishing a bail bond in the sum of Rs.25,000/- with one surety of the like amount to the satisfaction of the SHO/Investigating Officer concerned, however, the petitioner shall join and co-operate in the investigation whenever called by the Investigating Officer in writing. Petitioner shall not do anything which may prejudice either the investigation or the prosecution witnesses.
