Issue notice. Mr. Lao, the learned ASC accepts notice. 4.

The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that he be released on parole for a period of one month in order to make arrangements for his daughter's engagement.

The petitioner was convicted of an offence punishable under the Narcotics Drugs Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 by a judgment dated 24.01.2011. He was sentenced to serve ten years of rigorous imprisonment.

He was also imposed a fine of ₹1,00,000/-.

The nominal roll has been handed over which indicates that the petitioner has already undergone actual custody of nine years three months and twenty days as on 12.02.2020. He is now required to serve eight months and ten days. His conduct in the jail has been satisfactory. It is also seen that the petitioner has been released on parole on a number of occasions and there is no allegation that he has misused his liberty. 7.

In view of the above, this Court considers it apposite to allow the present petition.

The petitioner is directed to be released on parole for a period of four weeks from the date of his release on his furnishing a personal bond for a sum of ₹10,000/- with one surety of an equivalent amount to the satisfaction of the Jail Superintendent. This is subject to the petitioner's address being verified.

The petitioner shall also provide his mobile number to the jail authorities and ensure that he is reachable at all times. VIBHU BAKHRU, J FEBRUARY 13, 2020 dr
