O R D E R

% 14.02.2020 The present writ of habeas corpus has been filed by the petitionerhusband seeking production of his wife Ms. Madiha, aged about 24 years. In the present writ petition it has been averred that Ms. Madiha has been illegally detained by her family members since 16th April, 2019. The petitioner also seeks protection of himself and his detained wife. Learned Additional Standing Counsel who appears on an advance notice has produced Ms. Madiha in Court. He states that the police had recorded Ms. Madiha's statement yesterday in which she has confirmed that she would like to stay with the petitioner-husband. He further states that since last evening Ms. Madiha has been staying at a shelter home -Apna Ghar.

We have spoken to Ms. Madiha in our chambers. She confirms the factum of marriage with the petitioner and states that she would like to reside with the petitioner. She also prays that the police protection be given to the petitioner and to herself as she fears physical harm from her parents and close relatives.

Keeping in view the aforesaid as well as the fact that Ms. Madiha is a major, we allow Ms. Madiha to go with the petitioner. The SHO, Police Station Chandni Mahal is directed to ensure that no bodily harm or injury is caused either to the petitioner or Ms. Madiha. The Beat Constable of the concerned area is also directed to visit the petitioner as well as Ms. Madiha at the petitioner's address and give his as well as concerned SHO's mobile number to them. In the event of any emergency, petitioner and Ms. Madiha would be entitled to get in touch with them.

With the aforesaid directions the present writ petition stands disposed of.
