This hearing has been done through hybrid mode. 2.

The present petition has been filed by the Petitioner - Mr. Manish Bhati under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India seeking release of his Rolex watch, which was detained on 22nd November, 2024 vide detention receipt bearing no. 43963.

The Petitioner holds a Permanent Resident identity card of UAE. The case of the Petitioner is that he was travelling from Dubai to India, and upon his arrival at the IGI Airport, New Delhi, he was intercepted by the Customs Department and the Rolex watch was seized.

According to the Petitioner, the said watch is his personal effect. The bank statement showing the payment made for the watch along with the invoice dated 21st November 2024, showing the purchase of the watch from UAE is also placed on record.

The show cause notice has been issued on 10th March, 2025. purchased the same in Dubai. The bank statement and the bill, etc. are also attached with this petition. Let a copy of the petition be transmitted to the concerned officer, adjudicating authority along with all the annexures. The Petitioner shall participate in the hearing before the adjudicating authority on 15th April, 2025. After verifying the credentials, if the Petitioner is a foreign resident and is willing to re-export the same, the watch shall be considered as a personal effect and accordingly, the adjudicating authority shall proceed. 6.

The address for the hearing, and the adjudicating authority's details shall be provided to ld. Counsel for the Petitioner within one week. 7.

The petition is disposed of in above terms.
