This is a petition under Section 29A(4) and (5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of time for completion of the arbitral proceedings and rendering an award. 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that upon the disputes having arisen between the parties in respect to turnkey contract dated 21.01.2020, the petitioner had invoked arbitration and consequently, Mr.Jag Mohan Lal had entered reference on 03.08.2018 as the sole Arbitrator. Despite the parties having diligently participated in the arbitration proceedings, the same have yet not

concluded, and in the meanwhile, the mandate of the learned Arbitrator has expired on 01.02.2020. He, therefore, prays that the mandate of the learned Arbitrator be extended for a period of six months.

Issue notice. Learned counsel for the respondent accepts notice and does not oppose the petition.

Keeping in view the fact that much time and labour has already been invested in the proceedings, the time for completion of arbitration proceedings and rendering of award is extended by a period of six months. The mandate of the learned Arbitrator is accordingly extended for a period of six months effective from 02.02.2020.

The petition is disposed of.
