O R D E R

% 25.02.2020 Mr. Vijay, the petitioner, has instituted the present habeas corpus proceeding on the allegation that his friend Ms. Priyanka is being wrongfully confined against her wishes by respondent Nos.5 and 6, namely Mr. Roshan and Mrs. Rekha respectively, who are the latter's parents.

Ms. Priyanka is present before the Court today and states that, she does not wish to reside at her paternal home, on account of the relentless and vigorous pressure being exerted upon her to

immediately marry a boy of her parents' choice. It is an admitted position that, Ms. Priyanka is more than 171/2 years old, her date of birth being 08.06.2002, as evidenced by the school first attended certificate issued by the Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya, A-Block, Sawada Colony (Ghevra), Delhi-110081. It is further observed that, during interaction with Ms. Priyanka in Chambers, the latter clearly and unequivocally expressed her desire to be housed in a Children's Home, till she attains the age of majority. In view of the foregoing, the only course that recommends itself to us, in accordance with law, is to direct the concerned Child Welfare Committee, as well as the Delhi Police to lodge Ms. Priyanka at CHG-I, Nirmal Chhaya, Hari Nagar, Delhi, till she attains the age of majority.

The Director, Nirmal Chhaya, besides facilitating the care, welfare and well-being of Ms. Priyanka, is hereby directed to ensure, without fail, that the latter continues with her studies. No other directions are called for.
