The substantive prayer made in the petition is as follows: "[a] Issue a writ of mandamus and direct the Respondent No.2 [or Respondent No.3] to convene an emergent meeting and decide the application of the Petitioner for D.El.Ed course well before 03.03.2020 being the cut off date fixed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in Maa Vaishno Devi Mahila Mahavidyalaya vs State of U.P & Ors [(2013) 2 SCC 617]; and..."

Mr. Sharawat, who appears for the petitioner, concedes that in the 311th Meeting of the Northern Regional Committee (NRC) held between 16th and 17th January, 2020, it was decided that the petitioner's case would be considered in the next meeting.

4.1 Mr. Sharawat points out that pursuant to the gazette notification issued by the National Council for Teacher Education ("NCTE") on 27.1.2020, the concerned Regional Committee, perhaps, would be the Western Regional Committee ("WRC"), given the location of the petitioner. 4.2 Mr. Sharawat says that the petitioner apprehends that the WRC may not take up the petitioner's case in the next meeting. 5.

To my mind, this apprehension, for the moment, seems to be unfounded.

In any event, the captioned writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the concerned Regional Committee i.e. NRC/WRC to deliberate upon the petitioner's application and render a decision as already indicated in the minutes of its 311th Meeting in the next meeting, which I am told, is commencing from 25.2.2020.
