This petition as a PIL has been filed seeking a direction to the Union of India to restrain the respondent No.2 from making available maps and images of sensitive installations, defence establishments etc. stating that putting such information/images in public domain by respondent No.2 may cause serious threat to the National security. 2.

On 15.01.2016, we had adjourned the matter to enable Shri Sanjay Jain, the learned ASG to get instructions as to the procedure being followed by the respondents before parting with such sensitive information. 3.

When the matter is taken up today for consideration, it is represented by the learned ASG that the respondent No.1 is seized of the issue and steps are in progress to regulate the publication of aerial/satellite geospatial data. W.P.(C) 344/2016
