This petition has been filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, seeking extension of the mandate of the learned Sole Arbitrator, who is in seisin of disputes between the parties under an Agreement dated 01.09.2012.

The learned Arbitrator was appointed by an order of this Court dated 23.03.2017 in O.M.P. (COMM) 529/2016. The mandate of the learned Arbitral Tribunal has been extended from time to time, lastly by an order of this court dated 17.08.2023 until 22.02.2024. 3.
I am informed that the proceedings are at the stage of final arguments.

Mr. Arvind Vashistha, learned counsel, appears on advance notice on behalf of the respondent, and states that the respondent has no objection to the relief sought.

With the consent of learned counsel for the parties, the petition is allowed and the mandate of the learned Arbitrator is extended by a period of six months w.e.f. 22.02.2024.

While parties join issue as to the reasons for the long pendency of the matter in arbitration, they assure the Court that they will cooperate with the learned Arbitrator for conclusion of arguments so that the learned Arbitrator has sufficient time to render the award within the time granted today.

The petition stands disposed of in these terms.
