This is a petition filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 seeking extension of time for completion of arbitration proceedings and rendering of the award. 3.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that learned Arbitrator was appointed pursuant to an order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court on 14.02.2017.

Despite the parties diligently participating in the arbitration proceedings, the same have not yet concluded within the prescribed time. The parties had also approached this Court on two earlier occasions, i.e. on 20.09.2018 and 22.05.2019 seeking extension of time for rendering of an Award which was allowed by this Court. Arbitrator has expired on 21.11.2019 but the arbitration proceedings are still inconclusive and are likely to be completed within a short period of time. She, therefore, prays that the time for completion of proceedings and rendering of the award be extended for a further period of six months effective from 22.11.2019. 4.

Issue notice. Learned counsel for the respondents, who appears on advance notice, does not oppose the said prayer. 5.

Keeping in view the fact that much time and labour has already been invested in the proceedings, the time for completion of arbitration proceedings and rendering of award is extended by six months reckoned from 22.11.2019. The mandate of the learned Arbitrator is thus extended till 21.05.2020.
