Petitioner has been held guilty for committing murder and was sentenced to undergo life imprisonment vide order dated 01.11.2014. Such order has already attained finality as his appeal and Special Leave Petition have already been dismissed.

The mere request of the petitioner is to transfer him to Semi-Open Jail as per provisions contained in Delhi Prison Rules, 2018. It is submitted that an application dated 20.09.2025was submitted to the Competent Authority and there is no decision, as yet.

Mr. Sanjeev Bhandari, learned Addl. Standing Counsel for State appears on advance notice and states that though he has no instruction with respect to the fate of the aforesaid application but at the same time, since the application is dated 20.09.2025 and as per the petitioner, it has yet not been W.P.(CRL) 1146/2026 1 The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above. decided, the aforesaid application shall be disposed of, in accordance with law, within a period of four weeks from today. He submits that outcome thereof shall be duly intimated to applicant and a copy thereof will also be sent to the Registry of this Court.

In view of the above, learned counsel for petitioner does not seek any further relief, at this juncture.

Petition is accordingly disposed of with direction to Competent Authority decide the aforesaid application/representation within four weeks from today.

Needless to say, if there is no decision within the period of four weeks, the petitioner would be at liberty to revive the present petition. 7.

A copy of this order be sent to Superintendent Jail for information and compliance.
