This is a petition filed by the Petitioner-M/s Vivek Travels Pvt. Ltd. under Section 29A(5) of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter, the 'Act') seeking extension of the mandate of the arbitrator by 6 months from the date of expiry of the mandate of the ld. Arbitrator i.e. 17th March, 2024.

It is the case of the Petitioner that it entered into a Contract Agreement dated 22nd August, 2012 (hereinafter, 'Agreement') for providing vehicles for officers of Northern Railway Headquarters Office, Baroda House, New Delhi, on monthly and daily hire basis. Disputes arose between the parties and the Petitioner invoked arbitration in terms of Section 21 of the Act on 14th November, 2019. The arbitration clause was invoked on the basis of Clause 10.5 of the Agreement. Accordingly, a sole arbitrator was appointed. The ld. 2022. The arbitral proceedings commenced on 30th April, 2022 and the pleadings were completed on 17th September, 2022. The mandate of the ld. Sole Arbitrator has expired on 17th March 2024. 4.

As per counsel for the Petitioner, the matter is at the stage of Respondent's evidence.

Accordingly, the mandate is extended till 31st December, 2024.
