This is a petition filed under section 482 Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 seeking quashing of FIR No. 853/2020, registered at PS Chhawla under sections 323/427/452/354/506/34 IPC and consequential proceedings emanating therefrom.

The facts are that respondent no. 2 used to purchase building materials from the shop of the husband of petitioner no. 1. On 05.10.2020, an altercation took place between the husband of petitioner no.1 and respondent no. 2 on account of some financial transactions. 3.

During the pendency of the proceedings, the petitioners and respondent no.2 have entered into a Memorandum of Settlement, wherein respondent No. 2 has agreed to settle all the disputes with the petitioner and has also agreed to cooperate in quashing the FIR No. 853/2020. 4.

Mr. Nikhil Dhiman, Adv. Respondent No. 2 is also present and is identified by SI Dharmveer, PS Chhawla.

Both the parties state that they have entered into the aforesaid settlement out of their own free will, volition and without any threat, force, undue influence or coercion.

Since the parties have arrived at a settlement and no disputes are pending, I am convinced that quashing of such proceedings on account of compromise would bring about peace and would secure the ends of justice. This court does not see any fruitful purpose if criminal proceedings are permitted to be prosecuted any further. It is a fit case for quashing. In this view of the matter, there is no reason to continue the proceedings. 7.

For the reasons noted above, FIR No. 853/2020 registered at PS Chhawla under sections 323/427/452/354/506/34 IPC and consequential proceedings emanating therefrom is hereby quashed. 8.

The petition is disposed of accordingly.
