The instant petition under Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023 (hereinafter "BNSS") [earlier Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (hereinafter "CrPC")] has been filed by the petitioner praying for quashing of FIR no. 74/2020 registered at Police Station Lajpat Nagar for the offences punishable under Sections 354(D)/365/323/506 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereinafter "IPC"). The brief facts of the case are that the complainant, a student residing with her family, alleged that the petitioner has been harassing and threatening her for several years despite her having severed all contact with him. It is stated that on 26.02.2020, while the complainant was proceeding to her institute in Lajpat Nagar, the petitioner intercepted her, forcibly took her mobile phone and bag, and compelled her to accompany him against her will. He allegedly attempted to take her to Ghaziabad in a cab and, upon her resistance, assaulted her and threatened to harm her and her family. 3.
Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submitted that the petitioner and respondent no. 2 have settled their disputes amicably and are now moving forward towards a peaceful and harmonious future. 4.
Memorandum of Understanding dated 18.12.2025 (hereinafter "MOU") is on record and has been annexed as Annexure-4. Qua this MOU, the respondent no. 2 has agreed to withdraw the case arising out of FIR no. 74/2020 registered at Police Station Lajpat Nagar against the petitioner. 5.
At this juncture, the parties appearing in person submitted that they have no objection if the present FIR may be quashed on the basis of aforesaid MOU. They also undertook that they shall abide by the terms of the aforesaid MOU.

Learned APP for the State, who appears on advance notice, accepts notice and submits that there is no opposition to the prayer made by the petitioner seeking quashing of the FIR in question in view of the settlement arrived at between the parties.

Heard learned counsel for the parties and perused the record. 8.
The petitioner is present before this Court and has been identified by his counsel and Investigating Officer, Police Station Lajpat Nagar. The authenticity of the order can be re-verified from Delhi High Court Order Portal by scanning the QR code shown above.
Respondent no. 2 is also present in the Court and has been identified by her counsel and the Investigating Officer.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 2 has categorically stated that she has entered into compromise on her own free will and without any pressure. It is also stated by her that the entire dispute has been amicably settled between the parties.

She further submits that she does not wish to pursue the present proceedings any further and seeks to put a quietus to the same, as she intends to move forward in her life.

Keeping in view the fact that the dispute between the petitioner and respondent no. 2 stands amicably resolved without any threat, coercion, or undue influence, and respondent no. 2 has unequivocally stated that she does not wish to pursue the proceedings any further, this Court is of the considered view that no useful purpose would be served by allowing the criminal proceedings to continue.

Hence, in light of the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court passed in Gian Singh vs. State of Punjab (2012) 10 SCC 303, FIR no. 74/2020 registered at Police Station Lajpat Nagar for the offences punishable under Sections 354(D)/365/323/506 of the IPC, and consequent proceedings emanating therefrom, are quashed qua the present petitioner. 13.
The petition along with pending application(s), if any, stands disposed of.
