The petitioner, who candidly states that he has been declared as a Bad Character under the Punjab Police Rules, has filed this petition under Article 226 of the Constitution, for the following reliefs: "a. issue a writ of mandamus or writ of any other nature, order(s), direction(s) to the respondents thereby directing the respondent no.1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of petitioner from the respondent no.4 along with police staff of PS: Nabi Karim and direct them not to call him in police station without due process and not to illegally harass, humiliate and torture the petitioner and also prohibit respondent no.4 from interfering in the life and liberty of petitioner in any manner whatsoever, in the interest of justice.

b. Any other or further order(s) which this Hon'ble Court deems fit and proper in the facts and circumstances of the case may also be passed in favour the petitioners and against the respondents." Ms. Niharika Kashyap, learned counsel for the petitioner, submits that the petitioner was involved in several criminal cases in the past, but the last FIR was registered in the year 2019, and he has since reformed, and not been involved in any criminal activity. It is submitted that, nonetheless, he and his family are harassed by constant visits from the police authorities, and by summoning to the Police Station without any FIR being registered against him.

Mr. Anand V. Khatri, learned Additional Standing Counsel, appearing for the respondents, submits, upon instructions from SI Vipul Tomar from P.S. Nabi Karim, that if the petitioner is required at the Police Station, the police will proceed in accordance with law, for this purpose.

As no further orders are pressed in this petition, the writ petition is disposed of in terms of the above submissions.
