O R D E R

% 26.02.2016 Present writ petition has been filed seeking following prayers :- "A. Direct the respondents to immediately change petitioner‟s name from „Deepak‟ to „Deepak Kumar Singh‟, for all future purposes, w.e.f. year 2011 when petitioner took admission into LL.B. course.

B.

Quash the revised result notification no. NOT/2014/2905 dated 25.03.2015 and order to issue provisional certificate/ degree to the petitioner in his existing name that is „Deepak Kumar Singh‟.

C.

Quash the resolution of the executive council of the respondents dated 28.05.2015.

D.

Impose exemplary cost on the respondents for the monetary loss and mental agony caused to the petitioner; and/or

E.

Pass any such other or further orders / directions which this Hon‟ble Court may deem just, fit and appropriate in the light of the facts and circumstances of the case and in the interest of justice."

Petitioner, who appears in person, states that he changed his name in the year 2001 and took admission in LL.B. course in 2011 as 'Deepak Kumar Singh' on the basis of Post Graduate degree which clearly bears his name as 'Deepak Kumar Singh'.

Petitioner emphasises that the his mark sheet, admission certificate and other certificates are in the name of 'Deepak Kumar Singh'. He, however, states that due to some mistake his name in the respondentUniversity's record remains as 'Deepak'. During the course of arguments, it transpires that University of Delhi has issued a degree of Bachelor of Laws to the petitioner also in the name of 'Deepak Kumar Singh'. A copy of said degree handed over in Court, is taken on record.

Consequently, present writ petition is allowed and respondentUniversity is directed to change the petitioner's name from 'Deepak' to 'Deepak Kumar Singh' in all its records, if not already done. With the aforesaid directions, present writ petition and application stand disposed of.
