% 20.03.2019 This petition has been filed by the petitioner challenging the bill dated November 30, 2017 for Rs.4,17,931/-. There is no dispute that the electricity connection has been disconnected. Ms. Anju Thomas, Adv. who appears for respondent no.2 states since the said amount has not been paid, the petitioner is required to pay the late payment charges including the current charges, which comes to Rs.5,02,024/-. She also states that the remedy is available with the petitioner to approach Special Electricity Court.

Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner insists on the restoration of the electricity. He also states that the petitioner has already deposited some amount. If that be so, respondents shall adjust the amount deposited by the petitioner and inform the petitioner the balance amount which cumulatively should not be beyond Rs.2,00,000/- i.e. including the deposited amount. On such receipt of the communication from the respondent no.2, petitioner shall deposit the amount within two weeks thereafter. On such deposit and compliance with all the commercial formalities, respondent shall restore the electricity connection. Thereafter, the petitioner shall approach the Special Electricity Court challenging the bill which has been impugned in these proceedings. It goes without saying that the said Court shall proceed to decide the issue in accordance with law. The deposit of Rs.2,00,000/- in terms of this order shall be subject to further orders to be passed by the Special Electricity Court.

The petition stands disposed of.
