The present petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, 1950 read with Section 528 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 20231 (earlier Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 19732) seeks issuance of directions to the Respondents for providing police protection to the Petitioner and her husband. 3.

a marriage with Mr. Manish Gahlot, aged about 26 years, on 18th March, 2025, out of her own free will. Reliance in this regard is placed on the Certificate of Marriage dated 18th March, 2025. The Petitioner further points out that a public notice has also been published in a leading newspaper about her marriage to Mr. Manish Gahlot.

The Petitioner urges that since her parents and family members did not approve of the relationship, on becoming aware of the marriage, the parents and family members of the Petitioner threatened the couple with consequences of violence and of falsely implicating Mr. Manish Gahlot in criminal cases.

In this regard, the Petitioner submits that she filed a complaint with the SHO, P.S. Civil Lines and other higher police authorities for providing necessary protection to her and her husband, however, the couple has continued to receive threats to their life and liberty from the parents and family members of the Petitioner.

Therefore, having reasonable apprehension that there is a threat to their life and liberty, the Petitioner has invoked the jurisdiction of this Court under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking appropriate directions to be issued to the police authorities to provide them necessary protection.

Mr. Sanjay Lao, Standing Counsel for the State, states that the SHO of the concerned Police Station shall provide adequate protection to the Petitioner and her husband in case they receive further threats, in accordance with law.

In light of the above, it is directed that the beat constable of the concerned area shall be sensitized in this behalf.
