W. P. (Crl.) 932/2019 The instant petition has been filed by the petitioners seeking quashing of the FIR No. 147/2017 registered at PS Tilak Nagar for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (in short 'IPC'), on the complaint of respondent No. 2 and the proceedings pursuant thereto on the ground that a compromise/settlement dated 18.12.2018 has been arrived at between the parties.

Respondent No. 2 is present in Court today. She is identified by the Investigating Officer in Court. She states that she has settled the matter with the petitioners with her own free will and choice without any threat, pressure and coercion as per the Settlement Agreement dated 14.05.2018 recorded before the Delhi High Court Mediation and Conciliation Centre, Delhi High Court, Sher

Shah Road, New Delhi. Today, petitioners have handed over a Demand Draft No. 098142 dated 30.03.2019 amounting to Rs.3,00,000/- (Rupees Three Lac Only) to the respondent No. 2 towards all her claims against the petitioners. She further submits that she does not wish to pursue the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings thereto.

In view of the fact that the parties have amicably resolved their differences voluntarily and of their own free will and without any coercion, pressure, and no useful purpose will be served in continuance of the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them, it would be in the interest of justice to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. Consequently, FIR No. 147/2017 under Sections 498A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 registered at Police Station - Tilak Nagar, Delhi and proceedings pursuant thereto are hereby quashed.

The petition is disposed of.
