By way of the instant petition, the petitioners are seeking quashing of FIR bearing No. 440/2016, registered at Police Station, Seemapuri, Delhi for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/406/34 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (hereafter 'IPC').

All the petitioners are present before this Court and have been identified by their counsel and Investigating Officer (IO) concerned, from Police Station Seemapuri, Delhi.

Brief facts of the case are that the marriage between the son of the petitioners and respondent no. 2 was solemnized at Delhi on 10.02.2014, in accordance with Hindu rites and customs. No child was born out of the said wedlock. It is stated that due to temperamental differences arisen between the son of the petitioners and respondent no. 2, both the parties had started residing separately since 27.04.2014. Thereafter, a complaint was registered by respondent no. 2, which was culminated into the present FIR. It is stated that with the intervention of the respectable family members, relatives and friends, the parties had amicably settled their dispute vide Settlement Deed dated 21.03.2023.

It is stated that both the parties have amicably settled the present matter vide Settlement Deed dated 21.03.2023, entered between them and their statements to the said effect have been recorded by the learned Joint Registrar (Judicial) on 27.03.2025.

On a query made by this Court, respondent no. 2 who has been identified by the IO, categorically stated that she has entered into compromise out of her own free will and without any pressure, coercion or threat and that she has no objection, if the FIR is quashed. 9.

In view of the above, that the parties have amicably resolved their differences of their own free will, and without any coercion, no useful purpose will be served by continuing the proceedings, rather the same would create further acrimony between them. to quash the abovementioned FIR and the proceedings pursuant thereto. There is no legal impediment in quashing the FIR in question. 10.

Accordingly, FIR bearing No. 440/2016, registered at Police Station, Seemapuri, Delhi for the offences punishable under Sections 498A/406/34 of IPC and all consequential proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed. 11.

In view of above, the present petition stands disposed of. 12.
