W.P.(Crl.) 791/2020 1.

By this petition, the petitioner seeks emergency parole under modified Rule 1212-A of the Delhi Prison Rules seeking parole for a period of eight weeks in view of the contagious situation arising out of Covid-19 in the country. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner states that the representation on behalf of the petitioner was made to the High Powered Committee, the response whereof has W.P.(Crl.) 791/2020

been received by the family of the petitioner yesterday only wherein it has been noted that as the case of the petitioner does not fall in any of the categories for interim bail determined by the High Powered Committee, it was resolved that the Jail Superintendent concerned shall release on parole/furlough, if rule so permits. Considering the recommendation made by the High Powered Committee, learned counsel for the petitioner states that the representation of the petitioner which was not addressed to the competent authority i.e. the Secretary (Home), Govt. of NCT of Delhi, be placed before the competent authority so that the decision thereon can be taken.

Mr.Rahul Mehra, Standing Counsel for the Govt. of NCT of Delhi states that representation made on behalf of the petitioner will be put up before the competent authority along with the response received from the High Powered Committee and the decision thereon taken within three weeks. 5.

In view of the above, the petition is disposed of. MUKTA GUPTA, J.
