The hearing has been held through video conferencing. 2.

The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that his application for parole for a period of two months be allowed. 3.

The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner could not, despite best efforts, file an application for parole before the concerned authorities on account of the prevalent pandemic. He further submits that in terms of the guidelines issued by the Supreme Court, the petitioner would be entitled to two months parole in a single spell. 4.

In view of the averments made in the present petition, this Court considers it apposite to direct the competent authority to consider the present writ petition as the petitioner's application for parole. It is so directed. The competent authority shall decide the petitioner's application and communicate its decision as expeditiously as possible and in any event

within a period of two weeks from today.
