Accordingly, this application stands disposed of. O.M.P.(MISC.)(COMM.) 290/2025 3.

This is a petition under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 ('A&C Act'), seeking an extension of the mandate of the learned Sole Arbitrator to enable the pronouncement of the arbitral award in the matter of DIAC/3618/12-21 titled as Hardik Gupta vs Delhi Development Authority.

It is stated that the one-year period for completion of the arbitral proceedings expired on 02.02.2023. However, mandate of the arbitrator was extended with the consent of the parties by further period of six months, thereby extending the deadline for passing of the award until 02.08.2024. 5.

It is further stated that the the final arguments were concluded on 20.07.2024, whereupon the matter was reserved for pronouncement of the arbitral award. However, owing to time constraints, the learned Arbitrator was unable to render the award within the extended timeline. Consequently, vide email dated 26.09.2024, the learned Arbitrator requested both parties to obtain a further extension of time from this Court to facilitate the rendering of the award.

A prayer is therefor, made by the petitioner seeking an extension of the mandate of the arbitral tribunal. Learned Counsel for the Petitioner submits that the arbitral proceedings may be extended until 15.05.2025, to enable completion of the process.

Issue notice. Mr. Gaganmeet Singh Sachdeva, Advocate accepts notice on behalf of the Respondent. He appears on advance notice and states that the respondent has no objection to the relief sought and consents to the extension prayed for.

The petition is, therefore, allowed, and the mandate of the learned Sole Arbitrator in DIAC Case No. 3618/12-21 is extended from 02.08.2024 until 15.05.2025.
