W.P.(C) 3525/2019 & C.M. No. 16190/2019 The petitioner assails the order dated 11.04.2018 passed by Central Administrative Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi (the Tribunal) in O.A. No. 3099/2017. The petitioner's grievance is in relation to the petitioner not being granted compassionate appointment on the demise of his father. Pertinently, the petitioner's father died in harness in the year 2003. It is already about 16 years since then.

It is well settled that compassionate appointment is not a regular source of recruitment. It is provided to the family of the deceased

government servant only to tide over the immediate penury that the family may suffer on account of the demise of the government servant. It has been 16 years since the said demise. If the petitioner has not been granted appointment on compassionate basis, the urgency in the matter does not survive anymore.
