The present petition has been filed under Section 29A of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 (hereinafter, '1996 Act') by the Petitioner-Ebix Cash Mobility Software India Ltd. seeking extension of the mandate of the Sole Arbitrator.

As per the petition, the parties executed an agreement on 30th September, 2015, to implement an Automated Fare Collection System ('AFCS') for buses operated by the Respondent-DTC. After disputes arose, the Petitioner filed a petition under Section 11 of the 1996 Act, and the ld. Sole Arbitrator was appointed on 19th July, 2021. The mandate of the ld. Sole Arbitrator is stated to have expired on 29th February, 2024, as recorded vide order dated 16th March, 2024.

It is submitted that the evidence in this matter is voluminous and is running into thousands of pages. There are several witnesses who are yet to be cross-examined. Accordingly, the mandate of the ld. Arbitrator is extended by a further period of one year.
