% 29.01.2018 Petitioners seek quashing of the FIR No. 857/2014 registered under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC as also Section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act PS Karawal Nagar on the complaint of respondent No. 2. Respondent No. 2 is present in court. Her presence has been identified by the investigating officer. Petitioner No. 1 is also present. The other petitioners are also present.
Parties now have arrived at a settlement and petitioner No. 1 and respondent No. 2 has been divorced by way of decree of mutual consent on 18.09.2017. In terms of the settlement arrived at between the parties, a sum of Rs 3 lakhs has been agreed to be paid to respondent No. 2 by petitioner No. 1, out of which Rs. 2 lakhs already stand paid and the balance sum of Rs. 1 lakh stands paid by way of
demand draft today in court.
To secure the ends of the justice, it is a fit case where the present proceedings needs to be quashed as no fruitful purpose would be served in continuing with this proceeding and it would only be an exercise in futility.
Accordingly, FIR No. 857/2014 registered under Sections 498A/406/34 IPC as also Section 4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act at PS Karawal Nagar and all proceedings emanating therefrom are quashed.
Petition disposed of.
