The petitioner has filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that an appropriate order or direction be issued to the respondents, directing them to issue an Overseas Citizen of India Card (OCI) Card to the petitioner.

The petitioner claims that he was born in New Delhi on 13.10.1965 and, therefore, was a citizen of India by birth. He migrated along with his parents, to Canada in the year 1967. Subsequently, he obtained a Canadian Passport from Ottawa City, Ontario on 16.05.2017. The petitioner states that he has visited India on various occasions thereafter. It is also contended that the parents of the petitioner have already been issued OCI Cards.

The petitioner made an application for an OCI Card with the Indian Consulate Office at Atlanta, USA on 30.05.2018. The petitioner's grievance is that his application has not been processed, as yet. 4.

In view of the above averments, the respondents are directed to process the petitioner's application as expeditiously as possible and, in any event, within a period of three months from today. In the event the respondents are of the view that an OCI card cannot be issued to the petitioner, they shall communicate the reasons for the same to the petitioner within the aforesaid period.
