Mr Kirtiman Singh, the learned counsel appearing for the respondents has handed over a letter dated 19.07.2018. The letter indicates that petitioner no.2 has been called upon to confirm his willingness for sponsorship offered by the DGR. In view of the above, the learned counsel for the petitioners seeks to withdraw the present petition.

These are all intervention applications filed on behalf of certain officers who would be affected on account of the petitioners being offered sponsorship. Mr Jatan Singh, learned counsel appearing for one of the interveners submits that the period during which the intervener in CM No.

27459/2018 can avail of the sponsorship would expire on 08.08.2018 and if no sponsorship is given to him, he would be permanently deprived of the same.

Granting sponsorship to any one of the applicants would undoubtedly have an undue cascading effect. Respondent no.2 (DGR) is required to offer sponsorship strictly as per the seniority list. Admittedly, the petitioners were offered sponsorship but the same was withheld on account of certain inquiries which are now over and they have been exonerated. Plainly, they are entitled to retain their seniority position. In the event the interveners are being deprived of any opportunity on account of them being lower in the order of seniority, no relief can be granted to them. The applications are also accordingly dismissed.
