The petitioners have filed the present petition, inter alia, praying that protection be afforded to the petitioners as they fear for their lives. The petitioners state that they have married contrary to the wishes of their family members and apprehend that the family members of petitioner no.1 would harm them and implicate them in false cases.

Mr Avi Singh, learned ASC for State points out that the petitioners have not arrayed any of the family members of petitioner no.1 as respondents but have arrayed the police authorities of Uttar Pradesh as respondent nos. 3 and 4.

He further submits that the police officials had visited the residence of

the petitioners but had found that no one was residing there. 6.

In the aforesaid circumstances, this Court considers it apposite to direct that the petitioners to appear before respondent nos. 2 (SHO, PS Seema Puri). He shall evaluate the threat perception and afford them such protection as he deems necessary.

It is clarified that in the event any complaint or FIR has been filed in the State of Uttar Pradesh, the present order shall not construed as interdicting any investigation or any action related thereto. 8.
