Mr. Sahil Chandra, learned Counsel for the petitioners submits that he would be satisfied, if for the present, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to treat the writ petition as a representation and to take a decision thereon within a period of four weeks from today, keeping in mind the decision rendered by this Court in Ajit Singh v UOI1.

We make it clear that we have not expressed any opinion on the merits of the matter and it would be open to the respondents to take an informed decision. However, the respondents would bear in mind the decision in Ajit Singh.

Needless to say, should the petitioners continue to remain aggrieved, the remedies available with the petitioners in that regard shall stand reserved.
