% 31.07.2020 The hearing was conducted through video conferencing.
1. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits, upon instructions, that the only prayer which the petitioner seeks by way of the present writ petition is that his laptop which is in the possession of the respondent/company be returned to him. He further states that albeit purchase of the laptop was funded by the respondent/company, about 4 years ago, nevertheless the cost was subsequently deducted from the petitioner's salary and no further amount is to be recovered by the respondent/ company apropos the said laptop. So, in effect it belongs to him entirely.
2. The learned counsel for the respondent/company submits that if that is the position, the laptop will be returned to the petitioner. However, if some monies are to be recovered from him, the depreciated value of
the laptop will be payable by the petitioner, which is likely to be less than Rs. 5,000/-.
3. In the circumstances, let this writ petition be treated as petitioner's representation by the respondent/company, its decision regarding return of the laptop shall communicated within two weeks to the petitioner through e-mail, through his counsel as well.
4. If the respondent seeks any monies from the petitioner for the laptop, it will have to furnish him complete accounts and computation alongwith its decision. The petitioner may pay the monies, if so demanded, for repossession of the laptop.
5. No other reliefs are pressed.
6. In the circumstances, the petition, alongwith pending applications, is disposed-off in the above terms.
