This petition has been filed by the petitioners under Article 226 of the Constitution of India read with Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, praying for the respondent nos.1 and 2 to provide adequate protection to the petitioners. Though the petitioners also pray for a direction to the respondent nos.3 to 5 restraining them from taking any action against the petitioners, such direction in an omnibus manner cannot be passed.

As far as the first prayer is concerned, it is the case of the petitioners that both the petitioners are major, aged around 24 years and 29 years, respectively. They are living together of their own free will and choice. They apprehend that family of the petitioner no.1 may influence and cause harm to the life and liberty of the petitioners. Keeping in view the averments made in the petition, it is directed that the learned Additional Standing Counsel for the State shall provide the telephone numbers of at least 3 Police Officers to the petitioners from the jurisdictional concerned Police Station, of which one will be of a lady police officer and one will be of the Beat Constable of the area.

In case of any threat perception by the petitioners, the petitioners shall be at liberty to contact any of these Police Officers, and these Police Officers shall immediately look into the grievance of the petitioners and take adequate steps to ensure protection to the life and liberty of the petitioners in accordance with law. 5.
